Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara EV Set for December Launch – A New Era Begins

Maruti Suzuki’s First Electric SUV Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara Ready for Launch

Maruti Suzuki is all set to enter the electric vehicle segment with the launch of its first all-electric SUV, the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara, this December. The company showcased the model earlier this year at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, where it gained strong attention for its design and technology. The Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara marks a major milestone for the brand as it moves toward an electric future designed for both Indian and international markets.

The Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara entered series production in August at Suzuki Motor Corporation’s state-of-the-art Gujarat facility. This plant has become the global production hub for Suzuki’s EVs. Over 6,000 units of the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara have already been shipped internationally, showing strong global demand even before its official Indian debut.

The company plans to export the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara to more than 100 countries worldwide, reinforcing India’s role in Suzuki’s global electric strategy.

For Indian buyers, the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara will be retailed exclusively through Nexa premium outlets. This reflects Maruti Suzuki’s intent to position its electric SUV as a high-end, feature-rich model. The expected starting price is around ₹17 lakh (ex-showroom), which puts it in direct competition with several upcoming and existing electric SUVs in the mid-size segment.

Under the hood, the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara will come with two lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery options sourced from BYD — a 48.8 kWh pack and a larger 61.1 kWh pack. The larger unit delivers a range of over 500 km on a single charge, making it one of the most efficient EVs in its class.
The smaller battery version produces 144 PS of power and 192.5 Nm of torque, while the larger pack offers 174 PS with the same torque figure. Both versions are tuned for smooth acceleration and consistent performance.

Charging time is one of the biggest advantages of the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara. Thanks to DC fast charging support, the battery can be charged from 0 to 80 percent in just 50 minutes. Maruti Suzuki will also provide AC wall-box chargers for home and workplace installation, offering a complete and practical charging solution for daily use.

The Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara will face competition from some of the most anticipated electric SUVs in India, such as the Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curvv EV, Tata Harrier EV, Mahindra XEV 9e, Mahindra BE 6, MG ZS EV, and MG Windsor EV. Despite a crowded field, Maruti Suzuki’s extensive network, strong brand trust, and accessible pricing could make the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara a game-changer in the segment.

The Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara is built on the Heartect-e platform, which has been re-engineered to support electric architecture while maintaining strong structural rigidity and crash safety. Maruti Suzuki is targeting a high safety rating for the e-Vitara, ensuring both durability and occupant protection. The SUV will be available in three trims – Delta, Zeta, and Alpha – each offering a different feature set and price point.
