The doctor refused to treat a child on the night of October 26 when Ajay Chawda brought his 7-year-old niece to Sola Civil Hospital after she developed a high fever and severe breathing problems. According to Ajay, the child had been unwell for two days, and her condition worsened that evening. Hoping for urgent medical help, the family rushed her to the hospital.
However, when they reached the paediatric department, no doctor was initially available. After some time, a female resident doctor arrived but allegedly began scolding the family over how the thermometer was placed under the child’s arm. Despite the family explaining that a hospital staff member had done it, the argument escalated.
Ajay said that when he requested the doctor to speak politely, she reacted aggressively, saying that was just her normal tone. Frustrated by her behaviour, Ajay started recording the scene, after which the situation turned worse. The doctor refused to treat a child, allegedly hitting Ajay’s hand and even striking his brother in the stomach. She reportedly told them to go wherever they wanted, even to the Chief Minister, but insisted she wouldn’t treat the child.

As the doctor refused to treat a child, the video quickly spread online, drawing public anger and questions about hospital accountability. Reacting to the incident, Gujarat Health Minister Praful Panseriya ordered an immediate inquiry. He stated that any act of misbehaviour or negligence by medical staff would not be tolerated.
The doctor refused to treat a child despite the patient’s critical condition, which has raised concerns about patient rights and hospital management. The Health Minister assured that strict and impartial action will be taken once the investigation is complete.
The doctor refused to treat a child case has highlighted the importance of empathy and professionalism in the healthcare sector. Public trust in government hospitals largely depends on how such incidents are addressed. Officials have confirmed that the matter is under detailed investigation and appropriate action will follow.
The doctor refused to treat a child at Sola Civil Hospital incident serves as a reminder that patient care must always remain the top priority, no matter the circumstances.
